Parent Resources

We want parents to feel informed, equipped, and confident. This page is your hub for FAQs, downloads, and helpful resources.

  • We are currently enrolling kids ages 5–13/14 for our Fall session starting on September 9th, 2026. We do plan to expand into high school when we have a group of BLA Foxes at the appropriate age.

  • Our campus is located at 21555 Modoc Lane, Bend, OR 97702 — just minutes from Highway 20 and 27th. The property has five acres of space for kids to learn, play, and explore.

  • No. While we share some Montessori ideas like hands-on learning and independence (especially with our 5–7 age group), Bend Leadership Academy blends self-paced academics, Socratic discussions, projects, movement, and enrichment workshops into something uniquely our own.

  • The year is broken into six sessions (“sprints”), each ending with a presentation day where kids share their projects with families and our community. Each sprint is followed by a one-week break.

Our 2026-2027 Calendar can be found here.

  • Every day blends focus and freedom. Kids rotate through projects, academics, Socratic discussions, movement, and free play. These blocks are guided but flexible — if kids are in a deep discussion or project, our coaches don’t stop them just because the clock says so.

  • It means kids take ownership of their learning. Coaches guide, but kids are responsible for their progress, their choices, and often, for helping peers. This builds independence, confidence, and problem-solving skills that last far beyond school.

  • We see parents as partners. Education works best when school and home are aligned. We’ll keep you informed, provide resources, and invite you into the community — but we’re not asking for busywork or “volunteer hours.” Just partnership in raising thriving kids.

  • Bend Leadership Academy operates as a private education program in Oregon. Families formally register as homeschoolers with Bend-La Pine School District, and their children attend BLA full-time as their learning environment. This approach gives us the freedom to create a flexible, innovative model. BLA administers the state required assessments for Homeschool families at ages 9, 11, 14 and 16 (if the family chooses to have their leaders assessed).
